MY RATING
★★★★☆

Mälarpaviljongen is a vibrant seasonal waterfront venue on the southern shore of Kungsholmen in central Stockholm. Set on a floating pier and connected to the city by a short gangway, it combines relaxed café and restaurant service with a lively summertime atmosphere. The space features simple, Scandinavian-inspired design: wooden decking, plant-filled terraces, and casual seating that faces the open water and the tree-lined Mälaren shoreline.

By day, Mälarpaviljongen functions as a popular brunch and lunch spot, known for fresh, approachable dishes, coffee, and pastries. In warmer months, the outdoor seating fills with locals and visitors soaking up sun and views. As evening falls, the venue shifts to a more social vibe — low lighting, music, and a menu that highlights seasonal fare, small plates, and a selection of wines, beers, and cocktails.

Events and live music are regular features, ranging from DJs and acoustic performances to cultural gatherings and private bookings. The setting is especially appealing for relaxed gatherings: small groups, after-work meetups, or casual dates with a waterfront backdrop. Accessibility is straightforward via public transit, bike, or a short walk from central Stockholm.

Overall, Mälarpaviljongen offers an unpretentious, summery Stockholm experience: uncomplicated food and drinks, waterside seating, and a convivial atmosphere that makes it a favorite for both locals and visitors during the warm months.

Zachary Kunstman

My name is Zachary Kunstman, and I'm an advocate of multi-cycle, socially and environmentally sustainable, and human-centered built environments. My background in architecture has taught me that our surroundings impact the people within greatly, and healthy buildings help occupants reach their potential and goals more easily. During the pandemic, I realized that much of the population does not have the luxury of living in places that allow them to thrive fully, and I wanted to change that. With a pivot into the real estate development sector, I hope to work for a property development company that provides mixed-use properties accessible to multi-socioeconomic backgrounds and unites communities together. When all members of a society feel valued, have the ability to thrive, and live amid healthy spaces, we all benefit and may advance together.
